Re: Cold air intake... Thoughts?
Ok here is my .02
I know a little about cars so argue with me all you want.
The factory air box does two things.
1 filters air to keep debris from entering the motor.
2 Silence the air entering the intake manifold.
The problem with #2 is in order to reduce the noise associated with bringing the air into the motor baffles must be used. The baffles reduce air flow.
Now if you don't Mind "hearing" the intake there is power to be gained.
Two tubes are not necessary in this application.
The Mass. is just under 3" inside diameter.
One 3" intake tube will not have any noticeable restriction in it. "there are some rules here for bends and such but not enough here to make a significant difference."
As far as the hot air thing….
Yes colder more dense air from outside the engine bay is best.
The crossfire has limited space so behind the headlamp is the most logical spot and it is right behind the fresh air holes in the radiator support.
If you plan on driving you crossfire in all weather conditions you may want to refrain from running your filter down to the fog lamp area as there is danger of sucking up water. If you are building a “Race only” car this could be a good solution.
I hope this make some dense to you guys.
Oh also see here I found relocating the m.a.s.s. worked good for me.
