dealers are about making money ... they will offer anything they think you will buy ... this is coming from a person that has three close friends that are ASE certified techs at audi, chrysler, and vw and is a gear head himself. i hear it from them all the time how they have to push product and service to make a decent living. not to mention many cars call for spark plug changes much sooner than this if they use copper plugs.
