I have looked in the manual for this answer, but can't find it. If you do NOT have a passenger in your vehicle (or something very heavy in your passenger seat), will the air bag deploy in an accident?

The reason I am asking is because we were talking to a friend (not a Crossfire owner) who turns his passenger airbag off and only turns it on if he has a passenger. Why does he do that? Because he said that way if he is in an accident, the other airbag will not deploy and he figures it will save him money in repairs.

OK - I think his reasoning is ridiculous - but he made me wonder about the way the passenger air bag works. Anyone know?

P.S. I would not ever do anything like that. I don't carry around little children (I'm probably the smallest person that will ever get into my car), so the passenger airbag will always stay on in my car.
