Danimal is right, i bought my '04 used in '05 it was from when it was 1st put in service. I did buy an extended warranty from Chrysler which would be a good idea for you MiniCooperS.
As far as service i haven't had any problems with my dealer, you can end up with bad service on any car, my dad has a Mercedes he had to change dealer because he had so much problems with the first dealers service, he kept going back with the same problem.
