its not a dummy system at all it says 7k at the beginning but after about 4.5k of driving it says its time for the service for me... I guess 7k is just a maximum that it starts at and then takes into account your driving styles and greatly lowers the FSS number. But I think that the system still overdoes the service time and I usually perform single wrench service every 3 - 3.5k miles... although the motor is very strong it still must be serviced very well to keep it that way... on the contrary I know a few cars where the owner with similar driving styles as me changes the oil every 10k+ miles...
