A bunch of people on this forum (my self included) have them and the general consensus is that they work very well and are pretty easy to install.
If you decide you don't like them you can re-sell them here on this forum and get back 90% of your investment so your financial risk is pretty low.

I agree with you on the money thingy.
I currently have the 6k McCulloch Set and they are way brighter than stock.
But the other day I was on the freeway and a Lexus passed me.
His lights were even brighter than mine.
You could get the whole set up for about $300 bucks on Ebay, not much more than the rebase set from McCulloch. And its not as much work as you think.
I'll post some before and after pics to show the difference.
