Default Re: filters & turbonator... and still i didn't win ... why?

lol ... gotta give a good ol laugh for the turbonator ... pure snake oil that tries to tout itself as a turbulence inducing device to help your engine ... this MAY have worked on old carbureted engines where fuel literally poured into the throttle opening point and had to atomize in one way or another before it reached the intake valves ... and old time car designers and drag heads knew this was accomplished by heating the intake manifold with coolant flow through a water jacket and causing enough turbulence to stop the air from hugging the walls by way of a rough casting finish on the interior of the manifold ... and then there was these guys pushing their turbonator that was probably R&D'd by some guy with a coke can and some tin snips ... who knows it may of worked on some horribly designed intake system back in the 60s - 80s ...

new car design is quite the opposite ... heating the intake tract reduces power so they attempt to keep the intake as cool as possible without affecting emissions (IAT temps affects EGT temps so they will affect exhaust gas composition) and the injectors are right at the valves so the intake tract is kept much smoother (as much as possible based on the quality of the casting, certain intakes such as the ones on 95 - 99 dohc neons could be ported and polished for a up to 15 hp gain to the wheels due to the poor casting quality inside, no so on the XF, this magnesium beauty of a manifold is sick !) ... sooo, introducing a device that is supposed to cause this good ol turbulence in the intake system on a car like the crossfire is in reality just providing a flow restriction ... still would like to see a dyno sheet on it just to prove the point as the 2 - 3 hp gain can be explained by lower coolant temp on the second run or just about anything ...
want to get more power out of this car ? increase the timing by way of ECU retune (simple and effective AND proven if you go with a reputable company like SI) or potentionemeter install (if you do not know enough to know exactly what these are do not ask as it may end in engine damage for you) ... then free up the exhaust flow and get the SRT-6 intake setup.
