I see your point benz... I actually used this nice link someone from the forum had provided showing a step by step oil change on an E320 with pictures. The filter used was paper. And after opening up the filter holder and taking out the old filter I realized the one I had (Purolator) was identical in every way to the old filter (a paper one with MB markings). Maybe its just because mine was a 2004 they hadn't switched to fleece? I don't know for sure but I thought the only difference in fleece was longevity?
