Re: Headers anyone???
I do have the SLK55 y-pipe. I think the stock air boxes an intake tubes are a restriction but need to come up with a way to use something larger without sucking hot air. Not a huge amount of room in there to build an airbox.
I do not believe the Nitrous spraying the intercooler would be nearly as effective in the SRT application as it is in a turbo application. Remember that in the Turbo the air has already been compressed and is traveling through the IC prior to entering the engine.
In the SC'd application you are cooling down the water that cools the intake charge. I believe that you would help prevent a loss in power due to heat soak but am not convinced that you would gain any power.
My reluctance to run Nitrous is not because I have an issue with it or think it is necessarily unsafe. The reasons are 1) I don't want to have to bother with the refills, 2) I would want to run a direct port and that would be custom work which gets expensive quickly 3) I do not want to give up any trunk space and 4) the engines are mighty expensive if you do create a problem for yourself. Has anyone priced one from the dealer? Ouch!
I don't know if there is room for a turbo setup in the cars. The space we are working with is pretty small. Maybe I would look at it if someone built the turbo exhaust manifolds. Then I would have to get a base SRT manifold and port it to eliminate the SC or have someone build me an intake manifold.
Vadim has dyno's of his C32 putting down over 400hp to the wheels. The issue he ran into was the SC clutch slipping. It can only take so much.
I am hoping for headers soon as that will help guide my next course of action. I may have to upgrade my ASP pulley's to something custom to run even more boost.
