Mercedies said they will not allow platform sharing with "visable" mercedies parts. Meaning the crossfire with similar exterier features and very similar interior features of the slk, will be the only car of its kind.

However, ecu, engines, transmissions, body structures, etc will still be used in platform sharing.

DaimlerChrysler wasn't pushing away anything by not bailing out Mitsu. Had that been true, they would have sold the stock they still have. Which is still a very large chunk.
