Way back in 1981 I had a 280 ZX. I also had a 110 lb white Akita and a 120 lb black Lab. Both could jump in and out of the rear. Sometimes I would drive with the hatch open (leashes in hand) just to get /watch peoples reaction to these two contrasting dogs sitting down facing the rear. That was LOL now that I reflect. Even just put a smile on my face. 
Story 409. The older we get the more stories we have to tell about. 
PS I think the 280 ZX had more room in the rear area, now that I think about it.
