Re: Does your mod plans include safety?
mods go hand in hand with safety ... someone changing tires and wheels is looking for wider better tires and lighter wheels ... resulting in less unsprung weight improving braking and handling along with the added traction of better wider rubber on the floor ... HID upgrades allow the driver to see much better and pose no added glare to other motorists inside a projector housing and little extra glare in modern free form halogen housings (not mentioning people who try to retrofit ds2 projector bulbs in halogen housings cause thats not modding thats just fubarring) ... upgrading that exhaust system ? i see it as a huge benefit for other motorists to hear me when i am nearing them ... worst thing to me is a ultra quiet small car that becomes invisible when in other motorists blind spots.
so you see the question is really not are we considering these things when modding cause performance and safety go hand in hand to the capable driver...
perhaps the question we should be asking is how much comfort is too much ? what i see as a threat on the road is cars and SUVs that have increasingly quieter interiors, meaning they prevent exterior noises from coming in not talking about panels that don't creak, preventing the driver from hearing what's going on around them ... add the ultra soft sidewalled tires many SUV makers use to give the idea of a comfy cushy ride but no cornering performance ... and drizzle with some couch like seats that heat your buttocks while massaging the rest ... don't forget to include the speed sensitive steering that assumes you have monkey brains and do not consider that doing a full lock turn at highway speeds may have different results than in the mall parking lot and what do we have ?
total disconnection from the road we are on ... that is the true danger ... cars that can be driven by the most incompetent or the dead tired ...
