I believe the way they got around the hood latch issue is this:
Look at the top of the grill, notice how the wide chrome strip outlines the wing.
I'm guessing that above those curves/outline of the chrome strip is just air.
Therefore, when you pop the hood (interior hood latch), the hood raises a little giving you enough room to get your hand in there to undo the latch completely.
OK, I stand corrected, the fit looks a little odd in the picture though.
