I have mine hard-lined into the back of my AM unit so there isn't any static. Granted I can't take it inside but it's better than listening to static if you don't have a clean station to transmit from. It's really a hassle in my area because I'm in a tweener area between Tampa and Ft. Myers stations, you obviously won't know until you get it but it's the only option if you're using the factory radio.

Also, for some reason the newer Sirius units won't transmit via 87.9 FM, they all start from 88.1. I have two units that are the same model, one about 3 months older than the other and they start at 87.9 and 88.1, respectively. 87.9 is crystal clear over the radio from FL to NC (road trip), but since you can't use it on the newer ones I found myself changing the frequency too often and went the hard-line option. Anyone know why they don't transmit via 87.9 anymore?
