Why not? Not that I can imagine driving a dog anywhere, but hey it amuses me when I see it on the road... I think the trunk is a good place... it won't bother you much there and there is not much to break there and if it starts to smell bad it is a lot less noticeable or if it makes a mess their it is a lot easier to clean...
