Ah the GTO.
Has styling that draws criticism.
Media has knocked the handling, shifting, etc.
Limited production run.
Was poorly advertised.
Does this seem familiar? What's even worse for the GTO was that the moniker had a history behind it, unlike the Crossfire. And Pontiac could have done so much more with it - especially with the styling. Any doubts that sales would have tripled if the car had edgy styling like the Cadillacs or the up and coming Camaro? And the lack of advertising was criminal. I zeroed in on the Crossfire when car shopping last year so I didn't spend any significant time on other cars. But even if I had looked more extensively at other brands I have to wonder if I would have remained completely ignorant of the GTO. The GTO is even more of a "would of, could of" story than the Crossfire. And that's too bad because it could really have been something special with looks and performance to surpass the competition.
