It gives detailed information on what is required at each service interval. Besides the oil and filter change, they are mostly checks that most people should be able to do themselves. Besides oil changes, the other main recommended maintenance items are fuel filter at 60K, auto trans fluid at 80K and spark plugs and coolant at 100K.

As far as telling what has been done on a used car, there is really no way to tell unless you get detailed service records from the previous owner. If the service was performed by a dealer, they should have that information in their computer.
