I have never heard of the XF as a poor mans mercedes. I personally have been lucky to afford pretty much any car I want, including a mercedes. In fact, I did own a MB E500, a $68k auto. but since I had so many problems with that particular car after 2.5 years I decided to get rid of it and get the XF as my daily driver.
