My car currently weighs (2,490) with roll cage and single F1 spec. driver seat !!! I'm still working on weight reduction and may go to Lexan instead of glass...
Why lexan? It scratches easily and is just a pain to deal with. And since your auto-x racing you will need a new windshield after every race. I could understand replacing the rear glass, maybe but not the front. Unless you can attach some sort of clear 3m film over it, it just aint worth the trouble.
