Hey Paul, yes the shorties will more than likely bolt up to the factory exhaust. Tuning isn't necessesary with these but more power can be had with a proper tune.
With the full length (long tube headers) Floored Fab might be able to tie them into the factory exhaust. I really don't know what they have planned as of yet. There is another SLK owner who is looking at the full length units and he is talking about replacing the cats with a couple of 200 cells and a couple of 100 cells units to keep legal with the smog laws so I'm sure this would require a complete redesign of the exhaust.
Chris recommended a shop nearby for the tuning although I can't remember the name at the moment. I'll forward it along later tonight as it is on my home computer.
