As far as I know, the GTO was somewhat of a 'flop' at first. A friend of mine got a brand new one for somewhere around the same deep discount that they are giving on new Crossfires. That leads me to believe that they may not be around long, and could end up being exclusive.
As far as Crossfire vs. GTO - I am a fan of any car with decent performance. I happen to like the GTO, although I'm not sure that I would give up my SRT6 for one. Although, I've only had the SRT for a month.
Nice car - hopefully the previous owner didn't beat it up too bad with all those mods.
