Default No Console/Armrest Padding...Inexpensive Solution

It only took me a few minutes into my first Crossfire test drive to discover a minor annoyance with the interior that I have not seen addressed in this forum. If it has been addressed, my apologies.

I found it very annoying that there is no padding whatsoever on the center console. Being over 6 foot tall, my elbow rests on the center console lid with the seat is back as far as possible. My solution may not work if your arm does not rest on the console lid.

My inexpensive solution turned out to be as simple as placing a black XL Knee Pad over the lid to the center console. This provided instant relief to my elbow and it allows
the locking mechanism to continue to operate as intended. Since a kneepad has openings at each end, the console lock remains functional.

A knee pad can easily be installed and removed without modifications or glue.

I have taken several friends for rides and not one of them has noticed that their arms had been resting on a knee pad.

As a new member, this forum has been great and has taught me several nuances of the Crossfire that I would not have gotten anywhere else. My father really liked it when I showed him how the hood opens to 90 degrees. Again that little tidbit came straight from this forum....thanks.

My Crossfire is a 2006 base model that I bought new on 8/24/2007. The Chrysler powertrain warranty and low price made the purchase a no brainer. My only regret is that I now have to sell my totally original 27k mile 1973 Mercury Cougar that has won its class at National Cougar Shows.

I am approaching 1,000 miles and will be performing my first oil change in the next week or so. I cannot wait to get a closer look at the underside of my Crossfire.
