In the UK... 20 oz to a pint: 8 pints to a gallon.
In the US... 16 oz to a pint: 8 pints to a gallon.
So your conversion is not apples to apples - I agree though, it's still cheap. Everybody over here complains when it goes up $0.02.
I nearly have a heart attack when I go the UK and fill up a car with petrol.

You can drink more pints over here before you fall down!!!
