The Odometer mileage is actually stored in a few place within the electronic lexicon of computers and controllers. It's stored in the ECU, The ABS Control Module, the Body Control Module and another undisclosed location that can't be traced. That way, even if you had to replace all three of those mentioned parts, the car would still show accurate odometer mileage. Rolling back the odometer on one of these cars would take MB Engineer or a Rocket Scientist/Super Hacker with DBR machine...
Take a look at this eBay listing, where the seller actually boasts that:
"I AM SELLING A INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OUT OF '06 CROSSFIRE SRT-6 .THIS INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAS UNDER 5,000 MILES ON IT AND THIS WILL CHANGE YOUR MILES."
Let's hope you're right and he's wrong. And eBay really should monitor these kinds of listings better, IMHO. Actually inviting buyers to commit fraud would seem to be just a little too awkward for the site to tolerate or accept.
