I heard TX just adopted the point system here for moving violations. Due to needed funds for the city budget, the police around here have really been cracking down on people. I may rethink leaving it off. The point go on your driving record and could include LARGE fines.
I don't know about Texas, but in New Jersey I'm pretty sure it isn't a moving vioation.
