I've read a similar thread on another forum where a poster made an interesting point - since the oxygen molecules will leak out much easier than the nitrogen molecules, this will ultimately leave the tires filled with only nitrogen. So you can just put air in your tires and let them sit for a couple of days to get all the benefits of nitrogen without the cost.
