There was a fatal wreck on the interstate near where I work when a Tahoe lost one of its 24" wheels in the front. The truck went out of control into the median and flipped twice. The wheel came off with the hub assemble still attached. The ball joints and tie rods completely let go from stress.
i find this hard to believe, because the 24s don't way much more than the stock wheels, and tires. also, seeing how 22" wheels are optional on escalades, the weight difference between the 22"s with the larger tires they use and 24"s with the smaller tires is non-existent. i, myself, and many others have 24"wheels on escalades, tahoe, suburbans and have never heard of this happening.
