While I do not have an SRT6, I too made my first oil change at just over 1000 miles which is the break in period stated in the owners manual. I like to rid my engine of any possible metal shavings or contaniments that may have been generated during the break in period.

My 2006 base coupe was purchased new in Aug. 07. After my oil change I did not reset the FSS an plan on making my next oil change when the light comes on.

On the few new cars that I have purchased, I have always made my first oil change soon after the break in period was exceeded. Its a habit that some of my buddies scoff at but I do not care. In my Crossfire's case the other factor was the length of time from the date of manufacture to my purchase.
