Re: Advice for a potential buyer
Look for SRT's as far as 1500 miles from your home. The competition then becomes fierce between dealers (only buy from dealers with a car fax). There is a lot of variance between dealers and you can really get them bidding against reach other. Find your best deal, buy it, get a cheap ROUNDTRIP flight and go. When you get to your car look it over real well. If you don't like it come home and do it over again.
I did this and came home with a beautiful black SRT with 6400 miles for $19,000. That is a price hard to beat. I spent about $100 on gas and my ticket was $262 and my Car Fax was $29.99 for unlimited queries (I did 19 before I found the right car. Three had been in accidents.)
Remember in the north that the season is over and the dealer is looking at paying on his floorplan all winter. That costs serious money especially since cars as a whole are not selling. Also try to get an idea how long the car has been sitting on the lot. You usually can get a good idea on this buying the Car Fax. Also look carefully at the pictures the dealer posts on the Net. They often show date stamps.
Will this system work for everyone? I don't know, but it certainly worked for me!
