I think how far they protrude depend son the application, On the Crossfire, driver side they extend just a bit on the mirror closes to the door. On the passenger side all is fine.

You can seal the gap between the two mirrors using black silicone, especially if you have the heated mirrors as this will help trap the heat between the two.

I am very satisfied with them. The blind spot is gone.
