It had a compression-reducer plate on the heads, so it only had 8.5:1 compression. Here's the link where I bought the package - installed it myself, the Stage 1. (Note: The package shown now is seperate from the one I bought - the one I bought wasn't as powerful, only bumped me up to 275HP). The picture shown is a turbo beetle, but it's the same setup as you would use on a Jetta.

Isn't that a VR6 in the beetle? Are we talking 1.8T or VR6?
That does appear to be a VR6 - mine was a 1.8T. Perhaps that's why there's gets to 310, and mine only got to 275. However, most of the parts they're mentioning are the same pieces (although they might not actually be the same parts - tuned for the VR6 instead of the 1.8T?) When I said that I installed it myself, I should have qualified that - me and my friend Dave installed it, and he knows much more about these kind of things than I do (although I wouldn't condsider myself an amateur). I can't however find my old kit on their site (I bought my kit in 01), so I don't have the exact one to point out. In any case, the final compression (according to Dave) was not 8.5:1, but 10.3:1 (I was taking the numbers off the site). I'm sorry for the confusion.
