The same thing happened to me when I tried to buy one in Austin, Aero Blue SRT Coupe, with 500 miles, from Maxwell in Taylor/Hutto.
I went up there the day before the Ebay auction ended. I told them I would call my insurance the next morning to verify that it wasn't going to be too expensive. I arranged my insurance, arranged my financing, and called to make a deposit over the phone to end the ebay auction.
All of the sudden, no one I dealt with was interested in talking to me. They wouldn't pick up their cell phone, answer emails, or answer their receptionist's page.
The ebay auction ended for a few dollars more than I offered...and now they got to deal with the shipping headache. Their loss.
BUT, I drove 90 miles 1-way to go look at the car...so I was a little irritated when they sold it out from under me.
I ended up going to Bonham Chrysler the following weekend and buying my SRT.
