There would be a definite benefit in replacing the factory catalytic converter with an aftermarket less restrictive cat. However, the decrease in backpressure (from less exhaust restriction) may negate the benefit. Only testing would tell for sure. I have an offer from a local shop to so do to my car (1/2 price to be the guinea pig), but I'm hesitant to do such an extensive mod while the warranty is still in effect.
