I then trimmed about a 1/3 off of the stock bumpers and re-installed. The ride now is perfect, not jarring, but not to soft. Plenty of give on RR tracks, dips and those California cement freeways.
I think it rides better now then when it was new.
It's a cheap alternative ($0.00) you can try before spending any money. Not sure if the limited has this bumper in the shock.
Stop by Dan and I'll take you for a spin.
Here is a pic - it's hard to see the black bumper on the rod but it's there.

I trimmed my bump stops today. The car rides very smooth and could almost use a firmer shock. I could tell that since I lowered my my car, I was hitting the bumps stops on bigger bumps. I am concerned when you said with the small bump stops the car was too soft. I wouldn't want the bump stops doing the job of the springs and shocks. My bump stops were exactly the same as the one in your picture. I cut mine just about in half and used the half that has the groove in it. I put the flat side against the body of the shock and tappered end pointing up. I think I will go with Bilstein's aftermarket HD shock in the future. Another thing that helps my ride is the lighter 18 inch wheels in the rear.
