I agree...but must add, not only POSITIVE info is posted here. You also see the negative reviews, which are equally as helpful.
Someone may have posted about something 3 years ago that has since had a negative side effect or proved to be a waste of time/money. A 'newbie' comes along and asks about it, and now that the 'old' person has 3years experience, he can provide a 'new' response about it.
If this 'newbie' would've just searched, he may have wasted his time/money reading all of the hype about a product when it first came out.
I agree to a point though - as a forum owner, it is nice to see less repetitive threads. BUT, when the threads are simply positive reviews, and 'compilations'...no sweat.
All Abe did was take all of his mods, compile it into one easy to find post, and piled all of the info into one area. This makes it easier to reference later, and easier to find all of the info in a search.
A lot of good moderators/administrators of forums will actually MERGE threads to do the exact same thing that Chi-Town did. If the Mods/Admins are unhappy with the new posts - maybe they should exercise this function of the forum software. Then people may stop complaining about redundant posts.
There is always going to be someone who is unhappy. I learned this quickly when starting a forum...do your best to please the masses, the rest will follow suit or just live with it.
