Default Tranny Trouble Question? No Dipstick?

Okay, where do I begin. First off, I am having issues with my tranny. I don't exactly know how to describe whats going on but I will do my best.

The other day I was going up the hill to get to my house and I hear this loud, kind of grinding noise, right below my seat, It seemed also that my car was losing power to the wheels. I could hear the engine working fine, but as I pressed on the throttle to get some more power the noise would get louder and it felt like the tranny was shaking, as if it were slipping.

This issue is intermitant however, itll happen, and I will let go of the throttle, then get into it again and it will hapen again, I will rinse and repeat then the car will work fine. The car will continue to work fine for a while, few days go buy and it will happen again.

First thought was that it might be low on tranny fluid. I pop my hood to find the tranny fluid dipstick and cannot find it. I go into my manual and look up tranny fluid in the index, and find the page. It says something to the affect of "regular maintanaence and checking up transmission fluid is not necessary for your convienance, so the dipstick has been omitted. To check fluid levels take to your local dealer"...blah blah blah.

Say I take my car to the dealer, and there is an issue, and it is related to there not being enough tranny fluid, is this my fualt, or covered under warranty? How am I suppose to monitor the levels if there is not dipstick.

If this issue is just because of low fluid levels and adding fluid can repair it, does this still qualify me for the loaner program?
