I may try this too, but if there is room to "slashcut" the new hoses I may do that to increase the size of "scoop" to force more air in. I was wondering if they did Adhesive heat shrink tubing in that size as that may make thing easier to join the pip together.
I would be interested to know how much difference it makes when you have a "comparable" day to test it on.

After I expanded the ends on the intake tube's they fit into the 2&1/4" ID hose pretty tight. The hose I used was Gate's brand, I believe it's used for BIG truck radiator hose's, they sell it by the inch ($1.45). I thought about doing a beveled or slash cut too and probably will. The reason I didn't is because I had thought about adding a fitting on the ends to point them down, you wouldn't believe all the bugs that were in the bottom of my filters. I figured it was because the tube's pointed straight forward were the bugs had a straight shot to get in.
