Any other suggestions at a price point of < $1,000? Also, what model installs the best?
I have a Garmin 76S. When on major road trips in my other vehicle, I hook it up to a laptop with DeLorme Street Atlas. With this I get MP3 files, highly visible road maps, voice directions and DVDs for the kids.

Checkout http://www.gpsdiscounts.com They have some good prices and fast service.
