My check engine light has been coming on lately, throwing the "loose gas cap code" as I call it. I bought a new gas cap and am attempting to switch the old one out. My question is this: what do I do to take off the original cap and put in the new one. There is a round piece of plastic that appears to attach the cap to the fuel door, does this unscrew, pop out, something else??? I just don't want to break it, please help.
Have you got you gas cap problem fixed yet. reply to my e-mail and I'll try to help. some of the gas caps have been coming apart and not just on crossfire. It leaves the white center in the filler neck and the black part comes off in your hand and the set a large leak and or missing gas cap problem. and some time you have to get a pair of pliers to grabb it and unscrew the center part of the cap.
