Re: Turbo kit for crossfire!!
In theory, yes... you should be able to transplant / reprogram the PCM / ECU from the SRT6... But, and this is a loose quote from my contacts at Bosch who make the electronics for MB...
The MB engineers are so close lipped with their software that we, (Bosch) don't have access to it...
I realize you are new to this forum, but just a bit of history about the Crossfire.... The management at Chrysler in Detroit didn't even have the engieering specs on this car until mid 2005... It wasn't until I raised a ruckus trying to get the car classified with the SCCA in early 2005, that Andre' Amyot (the head of Crossfire development) finally got the full engine specs from Germany so I could send them to the club racing board...
Not only that, early in this forum history, there was a member who worked for Chrysler and was responsible for getting all the part numbers from MB so Chrysler could make their parts catalog... He told me that most of the part numbers were screwed-up and beware if you ever need parts... Well, that finally got worked out after many mis identified / labeled parts...
As far as a piggy back system ? I have only been able to find a handful of Bosch technicians in the USA that have the expertise (inside knowledge) on how to rewrite the programming on this ME2.8 & ME2.8.1 ECU for the Mercedes... And since they know that their expertise is very specialized, they charge a fortune... If you call any of the "off the shelf" piggy back ECU companies AEM, etc., they will specifically tell you that they do not guarantee their product will work properly with our application... As they say, "you're on your own"...
So, maybe somebody else has finally found a source for reprogramming the OEM computer so all your daily accessories work and your dashboard doesn't light-up like a christmas tree with a dozen CEL's...
The only thing I have found for my application (race engine only) is the MOTEC M600... But I have heard that some people can install it as a piggyback to work with BMW OEM ECU's but have yet to find one that has done it with the MB...
Obviously there are a few companies that have done this... BRABUS, RENNTECH, KLEEMANN... But you're going to pay through the NOSE !
Good luck, it's been a very frustrating process for me, someone who is used to tuning a car by using a timing light and twisting the distributor cap... LOL
