Actually Walc, you were quite lucky nobody ever tried stealing your gas cap that had the Gremlin logo on it.
The AMC dealer my Dad managed must have sold a several hundred "lockable" Gremlin gas caps during the first couple years of production. It seemed kids thought Gremlin gas caps made very desirable souvenirs.
If they were built today, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they didn't turn up as "neck chains" for youngsters looking for a little extra BLING.
