Secondary y-pipe sensor popped out!
Im referring to the aluminum y-pipe that has a sensor in it. It is after the supercharger so it is under boost.
So im driving down the street and pull up to a stop sign when the car starts acting funny. First, the idle raises to 1000rpm. Then it starts to fluctuate back and forth between 1000rpm and 2000rpm and the CEL comes on. When i accelerate on the gas i notice a "swiiiish" sound. From previous turbo car experience this sounds like a boost leak...and sure enough it is. When i pop the hood i intitially expect one of the secondary y-pipe hoses has come loose. Upon closer inspection i see that the little sensor has actually popped out of the y-pipe. I push the sensor back down, close the hood, and the car drives fine.
Has this happened to any of you yet? There is a little plastic clip that holds the sensor down in the casted aluminum housing, actually it may be part of the sensor, it was hard to see. IMO its very cheezy and prone to pop off at any time, especially in a race when your under boost. If this happens again, im going to look into the possibility of buying a threaded sensor, which will be hard if not impossible to find one with the same connector. Id really hate to have to splice another connector on, considering im not sure how finniky the ECU is to the resistance of the wire chaging due to the splice/solder. In other words....i REALLY, REALLY, hope it doesnt happen again.
Once more thing, do you guys know if this car automatically pulls timing, or goes into limp mode when the CEL is on? Becuase it seems a hair slower now. I have not cleared the code yet nor do i know if a generic scantool will work or if i need to take it in to Chrysler.
