There are two kinds of superchargers. Both turned by belts. Centrifigul type, mounts up front like an accessory and uses a round head unit much like the turbo.
The roots/twinscrew positive displacement type have a linear lobe design, and a rectangular housing. And sits on top of the motor
The roots typically comes in lower RPM's and must be limited on speed. But on the CF they use the clutch to bring it in at 3K and the redline controls the top.
The retrofit cost is due to tuning issues. The SRT has a much bigger fuel system and requires the blower clutch control and different timing and fuel maps while under boost. IIRC the NA CF has 17lb injectors and the blown has around 50 ? and that would require a lot more fuel pump volume etc.
