They are ground and polished inside and out and finished with clear powder coating... who needs after market products when you have a bunch of good equipment that can be enhanced for serious performance...
As far as magnesium, yes MB has been a real fan of the metal for their engines for quite a few years... most of the upper engine is cast from it... It is lighter than aluminum and stronger...
