That point is right on target. In 2001, we bought a 1997 MB E420 and an Audi A6 Avant from good friends (the original owners, who baby their cars, and who had taken delivery in Germany) who were upgrading. Over six years later, we still have the Benz, which has only been in the shop twice for relatively minor work. The Audi, however, was an absolute nightmare and spent months in the shop, at a cost of far too many large bills. We dumped it two years ago for the Magnum, which has been flawless ever since. Good advice, Slim.
