Which is why I use Meguiar's Safe D-Greaser from their Detailer Line. Strong stuff, can be diluted to a variety of ratios, and safe for plastic and rubber surfaces. Since my engines are never allowed to get very dirty to begin with I dilute it 10:1 so a gallon that costs me $12.99 really ends up being 10 gallons for that price. Hard to beat. I understand it is being/has been replaced with a product called Super De-Greaser so once I've used up what I have I'll be buying some of the newer product.
