I don't think that this is talking about the Europen style reverse that requires you to lift up on the stick to get to the reverse gear.. I think it is talking about a lever that you have to pull up from under the stick in order to move the transmission into reverse, kind of like a Hurst shifter, I guess, but with a pull instead of a squeeze. Ours is not a lockout lever. It's just how the shift pattern works.
You know what I worry about when replacing the shift **** with one that doesn't have the shift pattern on it? When we go out and I leave the car to be valet parked... that the valet parker will put the car in 6th and toast my clutch or something. It's probably not very likely, but it's one of those irrational concerns that I have. I have learned never to underestimate the potential for stupidity.
