Hey Itsallu . . . thanks for the kind words ! The track experience was what sold me on going back to the car show last year. I have been going down to it for the last 8 years ! Was not really going to go, but then found out that there was a "Day at the Track" in your OWN car on the Thursday before the car show ! . . . was great ride down - 1,600 miles ONE WAY !!! What a ride - and CHEAP on fuel too ! I spent total round trip of $250.00 on fuel - for 3,200 miles !!! . . .
Headed to Willow Springs - from Redondo Beach . . . . did the early morning drivers meeting and then about 45min class room instruction . . . broke into three groups : 1) rookies, 2) Intermediate Experience, 3) Experienced . . . was on the track with NEW cars and OLD cars !!! Each group rotated thru the 2.5 mile course for about 20 - 30 minutes . . . learning the car and the track, entering, apexing and exiting corners !! During lunchtime there were some "low speed" drive alongs with experienced drivers or having a passenger in your own car !
I would say I got much more confident with driving the Crossfire - fast ! Seeing how it handles and my abilities to handle the car. From the beginning of the day, to the end of the day, I was approximately going 30 - 40 mph faster around the track !!!
Gotta remember, I still had another 1600 miles to drive back north to home ! About the only thing I could see on the car, was having some front rubber scrubbed off the front tires !!
For those that get the chance, I would HIGHLY recommend doing something like this - especially in your OWN car ! WAY FUN !!!
