Everyone just really needs to start reading books and THEN form some opinions.
It sounds like you have your thinking cap on pretty straight, but i have a few comments...
I dont think its an accurate description to say a conservative does not want change and a liberal does. More accurately a liberal wants more govt, more social programs, more spending(except on military), more rights for minorities(and i dont mean just racial). Conservatives generally want less taxes(but a higher % to fund military), less govt subsidised programs, etc.
Ever heard the saying apply liberally, or apply conservatively. Liberal means more and conservative means less. More govt, vs less govt.
You say you want to go back to the way the counrty was founded. Well it was founded under Christianity, and by the revolutionary war against the British. Some times we need a certain level of offense to ensure a good defense. We gotta have our noses in other peoples business so you dont look out the window one day and see Chinese tanks and soldiers doing door to door sweeps, or terrorist strikes on our soil daily. Its not an accident we havent been hit again since 9/11. Its because we have men and women EXACTLY where they need to be doing EXACTLY what they need to be doing.
Im not sure why you relate rednecks to Christianity, but without a basic common religion or at least CHRISTIAN LIKE MORALS i believe our morals will suffer and we will become DILUTED and perverted. Historians often compare USA to Romes once vast empire, which fell from within. Once we are no longer comprised of individuals working towards the same purpose with the same goals in mind we will fall too. It might be 50yrs, it mght be 200, but it will come.
As a whole we as a nation have become too comfortable and take our freedom and securites for granted. Maybe a war on our own soil threatening the very foundation we exist upon is exactly what we need to make people see that sometime a good defense consist of a good offense. But if it boils down to that then that means we failed to take care of our ****, and its probably too late.
