If you need a wrench to remove the oil filter dome, it was over-torqued on the last install.

The o-ring is a radial seal (as opposed to a face seal) and when the plastic dome touches the aluminum cylinder, all you can do is "stretch" the plastic threads. If you have small hands, or are small in stature, I would suggest a "strap wrench" (rubber and plastic) ~$3 at Walmart, and you can use it for other things too.

The torque spec is 18 ft/lbs and can be accomplished by hand with the grip available on the body of the oil filter cap (dome).
